Within Tanzania, the river winds through the great Moyowosi floodplain, one of the largest wetland systems in East Africa. Located on the Rufiji River within the greater Nyerere National Park ecosystem, the dam has created a vast and largely unexplored body of water surrounded by some of the continent’s most remarkable wildlife habitat.
